Shelter Visit 30/3/2019
Closing in on May and the shelter is looking emptier than it has ever been before! Within the past few weeks we have managed to get out over 20 dogs and are still working on emptying those cages!
As for the future of the shelter, it is still very much uncertain. We are left in the dark on a lot of the legal issues that the shelter is fighting against to stay open and are only going off what we know to be true: that each dog, regardless of timing, needs a loving home. We continue in this fight.
In this vein, we celebrate the adoption of Koda yesterday! We are so excited for him and his new family! Big thank you to our teammate Tom and Julie of Rescue Me for organizing his furever family! Additionally, this week Boli will get out on an adoption trial, so keep all your fingers and toes crossed it works out for him!
This weekend we also organized the freedom ride for a sweetheart all the way from Granada. He was located at a shelter that was purchased by an individual who is changing it into a boarding facility. This means that all dogs there were to be euthanized unless adopted immediately. We were contacted by a big hearted individual about a specific dog and with our help, she managed to get him out! He will be arriving to Barcelona this week and will be looking for a foster home.
This week we are adding some Gatalunya Gear to the many ways that you can donate and get involved in our fight to save the lives of animals across Spain! All profits from sales of these items go directly to benefitting the animals in need by taking care of vet visits, spay and neuters, bloodwork, tests, and much more. It’s a great way to show your support while looking cool! Check them out!
Big thank you to Moa for overseeing the design process, Disa for creating the beautiful, badass designs, and Donna for doing all the logistics! We couldn’t have done this without this international team of women! Thank you!
