Shelter 3/11/2018: Elin.

Yesterday at the shelter started bad in spite of the sunny weather. We showed up around 10.30 and the dogs were still not fed, barking in despair from their cages.

On the good note we brought a huge donation of both dog and cat food donated by PURINA, luckily our Morgan worked with them on a photo shoot last week and convinced them to support our cause.

The cats were waiting for us in their cages, its almost like they know it is Saturday and finally they will get some attention. The usual drill on cleaning is; litter boxes, food and water bowls and the floor of the cages. We change all their blankest and sheets that we use to make little beds to try to keep them warm.

Right now we have three cages with seven cats. The first cage is the smallest, but at least the sun reach there during the day so it is a little bit warmer. They have one "yard" and two rooms in each cage, one as combined bedroom/kitchen and the other room for litter boxes. In their "yard" we try to make it as nice as possible for them with toys and things to climb on and to lay comfortable on.

This is not a place for kitty cats to live, that is why we try to get as many of them out before the winter. Unfortunately the ones that will have to stay in the cold will suffer a lot.

This Saturday was after all a good Saturday because we were a big and efficient crew and managed to get the cleaning over with quite fast so there were time for much needed cuddle. Our Chester and Rosie are both eager for human interactions and are desperate for love. So for us to have time to sit down and spend time with them is everything. The other cats are still quite shy and afraid so the mission with them is try to come closer day by day so that finally they will also be ready to move into their forever homes.

So, another Saturday with the shelter animals, another day of making a difference in someones life.
